Select Scanlens Series Update

Postby go_carlton2004 » 08 Aug 2007, 10:57

Quote from Selects Website (in part):

Thanks to everyone who entered the ballot for the AFL and NRL 2003 Select Scanlens Series.

Both series were well oversubscribed. Over 400 collectors in total applied for the AFL and the NRL series. As a result, unfortunately not all collectors will be lucky enough to secure a set through the ballot.

So over 400 entered for a total of 120 sets (if they didnt give away/keep/presell - which we know is not the case).

So then, not all of those will want the AFL cards, but I think it fair to assume the AFL has a higher interest rate than the NRL.

I think I might try lotto instead, at least then I know the numbers I have and can check it for myself.

Good Luck to everyone in securing a set!

I doubt they even have 20 left .. but lets assume they have 60

Of the 400+ entries, lets assume 300 want the AFL cards. 60 get them (however there is nothing stopping someone applying for large amounts as there is no rule about it), leaving 240 very upset people who missed out.

As there are 120 promos for each player 240 in total. That would mean they could give us all a promo to make us feel a little better.

Shame that they cant do that either, as they have already handed some of these out anyway.

Hmm... anyone think they are wishing they did the right thing with this release?

Hey I know they can print another run of these and mark them as a Second Release and print 240 copies...

The people who spend 2750 will start crying, the people who bought off ebay will throw their computers through the wall, and those of us with nothing.... will buy the second release much cheaper, and Select will have managed to annoy everyone.... while raking in the money

400. Lot more then i first thought. So the card prices is likely to be high then i thought aswell. Now I think they will now go for $250-$600 each and a whole set $7000. I dont wanna pay 500 bucks for Rodan and Ottens. God i hope i get a set.

Also, with the cards number 10/60 on the select site. If they sold some sets already they would of sold sets 2,3,4...up to 9. But they still have set 10. So they must still have 50 sets. I dont think too many sets would have been sold because if quite a lot where sold some of them would have made it to ebay by now.

Well if you count all the multiple aliases who applied you've probably only got about 57 people interested. You can live in hope I suppose.

There was always going to be people upset not getting a set as there is only 60 of them. These cards will end up being high end insert cards similar to Captains and Hall of Fames i reckon once sets r split.
