Is this whats missing?

Postby absti3 » 05 Aug 2007, 22:22

I did allude to this or state in another thread but 2007 Series 2 Supreme has no 1/72 card sets no Premiership cards no Browmlow Predictor no Platinums thats an added bonus which when buying a box i really looked forward to the last few yrs plus u still in most cases get your Signature Draft pick. And although this yrs has the standard Draft pick one per box and the 6 rare 100 and 110 Signature cards that is a real sticking point with me as chances of those r low but there is a very good chance of getting a really nice looking added bonus in a box which is also very collectable at 1 in 72. Thoughts

you might be right absti... i am disappointed with the way these ones are selling, then again having a predictor so late into the season is a waste of time... and really there isnt that wow factor with the cards either.. the only one i like (sigs excluded) are the medals....

Its definately whats missing i couldnt think of what it was but then it clicked its not the excitement compared to opening a Dynasty or Supreme from last yr as those 1/72 r great cards and added bonus they r much sort after and highly valued

As a seller Carlton how much would a 1/72 highly collectable low ratioed insert make to the bottom line, plenty, plus being only 16 draft picks its alot easier and quicker to accumulate a set than having 30

i hope they do better next year... a signature series with no signature ... and the second series with no wow factor... at least the first series make $ though... and i do hope they continue the sketch and the gem

I think the only real value in the predictors this year will be redeeming the whole set then selling them off. It really only seems to be Geelong going at the moment and to a lesser extent Weagles, I'll definately be holding off on my single ones of those. The joint is flooded with them at the moment.
I loved the 1 in 72s as well, you blokes have almost talked me into getting a case of dynasty or last years supreme if I don't get a scanlens set. Perhaps Dynasty, never know I might fluke a Judd Brownlow sig. , I'm missing it from my Judd collection.

i agree absti ... i wasnt happy with 16 rookies, it has really affected the price i think ... surely they should have to do the first 2 rounds or at least 22 or so... the other thing is ... the cards are numbered higher too, which means the value is less.. i was excited with the thought of HOF .. but i dont know why anymore..

The HOF got me excited too but I've got bucket loads of sets of them and will take a fair while to move them.

At least they look like they're going to change how you get a GF ticket this year. Like the Scanlens, if you're a member you register and go into a ballot. I've never actually been to one. I had a ticket for the '92 GF but sold it as I was joining the Navy 2 days later.

anyone think select ignored this set a bit and just concentrated on the scanlens? i am starting to think thats what has happened with this lot.... they couldnt even get the numbering right ... if producing 60 sets is that hard .. maybe they should try getting into another trade!

What u have to go in a ballot really bloody hell new there was 1 good reason for having less supporters although even our supporters have missed out in previous yrs.Isnt it funny at Grand Final time that all of a sudden people u didnt know follow a team follow the 2 Grand Finals sides and want a ticket. Dynasty great value Signed Draft picks, Platinums :P one of the best ever hidden gems a bit like the medal series signed and unsigned from 97?also Premiership cards Dynasty Master Redemption, Predictors Golden Draft, Hall of Fames list goes on. Ovation too Captains first ever duel signed still very cheap these babies around $700 these will be worth a bit i reckon in the future. And of course Supreme 06

I would say about $195 to me buy a couple of cases i think the Bone might have some cases in the wine cellar just watching them improve over time and the best thing with the Platinums there not redemptions so they dont expire
